Jupiter Infomedia to expand revenue from online business catalogue

Jupiter Infomedia, a Mumbai based internet portal maker and online content producer, plans to mine its existing online assets through rigorous marketing efforts across various metro cities in India. After trading on the BSE SME platform since August 2012, the company migrated to the BSE main board a month ago.
"Despite the small size of current operations, we have been making profits and paying dividend since inception. The next phase of operations will be driven by our efforts to market our online properties," saidUmesh Modi, chairman and MD, Jupiter Infomedia.
Jupiter has three portals: the business (B-to-B) directory called jimtrade.com, Indian essay encyclopaedia called indianetzone.com, and jimyellowpages.com, which hosts yellow pages directory.
The company's current operations are on a relatively micro scale with Rs 24.8 lakh of revenue and Rs 12.9 lakh of net profit during the six months ended March 2015. A major chunk of revenue is generated through online advertising.
The company, which was formed in 2005, focused on generating content and developing user base forJimtrade.com and indianetzone.com over the past few years. According to Modi, the B-to-B portal hosts profiles of four lakh individual products across 21 industries, and under 20,000 categories. The Indian encyclopaedia has over 3million pages spanning across arts and culture, entertainment, health, sports, and travel.
Modi said that the company is currently setting up marketing presence in cities including Ahmedabad, Delhi, Chennai, and Kolkata. This will increase its current employee strength of 21. "Our focus will be on industrial and electronics categories," he said.
The company's paid up share capital was Rs 10 crore and surplus was Rs 64.8 lakh at the end of March 2015. Its current market capitalisation is Rs 30 crore. The promoter group holds 66 per cent stake in the company.
The company's stock has gained over 50 per cent since May 20 when the company decided to migrate to the BSE's main board. The stock closed at Rs 29.6 on Friday, a gain of 0.9 per cent from the previous day's close.
